George Eliot

George Eliot was one of my favorite writers in high school. I went on this old-school literary bent, starting when I read Hardy’s Far From the Madding Crowd freshman year. That led me to Eliot’s Middlemarch and Silas Marner. I can’t remember if I finished Adam Bede, but I did see the Masterpiece Theatre version of it. George Eliot was born Mary Ann Evans in 1819. Along with these novels, she also wrote The Mill on the Floss.

Hmm . . . I should read Middlemarch again. I like Dorothea, but the silly doctor’s wife drives me up a wall.
