I found this picture thanks to Boing Boing.
From Yahoo News:
“. . . a U.S. Army soldier comforting a child fatally wounded in a car bomb blast in Mosul, 360 km (225 miles) northwest of Baghdad, Iraq, Monday, May 2, 2005.”
What a disturbing, yet ultimately very touching photograph. It isn’t hokey or overly sentimental, it is just sad. It is a very clear depiction of the loss of life that is still going on Iraq. Really, what good has come of us being over there? Was it worth the many deaths of innocent children, villagers, etc? I don’t think I’ll ever be convinced.
